I was expecting a very quiet time, Mum had a hearing-aid and Granny too; it was in two parts: one with little valves in it and the other with a big 90 volt battery.
My hearing was not too good when young. I preferred to sit rather than stand in the pub, to get my ears closer to other people's mouths.
It happened later in life, why was the music from the radio distorted? But hearing loss, no, I can hear everything, I can hear the doorbell better than most, but can I understand what you are saying?
The roar of the tinnitus in my left ear doesn't trouble me, but why is everything so loud? Why can I not understand things? Supermarkets and railway stations are really bad, really loud and I understand nothing. Everything is so loud.
